August Bike Ride #1

Today's bike ride was for transportation purposes only. I had to teach a swim lesson at the YMCA downtown and it's much easier to ride my bike there than taking the bus there. Before we left, we ate a nutritious dinner: chicken breast and mixed veggies, and a mixed berry fruit smoothie. Eliza loves my fruit smoothies so much, so here's a few pictures of her enjoying the one I made today.
We rode to the YMCA at 6:30, and I got Eliza checked into the child care area by 7. I taught my lesson from 7:15-7:45, and then picked up Eliza, who was clutching her favorite stuffed animal that she'd brought with her - a toy dog that's named "Puppy". By this time, it was dark outside and I realized I'd forgotten my blinkie taillight for the bike trailer. Oops! So I quickly got on the phone with one of the local bicycle shops, which closed at 8. I was so thankful they answered my call, which came in at 8:02pm. The nice guy who answered listened to my "oh poor me, I forgot my taillight" sob story and he said if I hurried over there, he'd let me borrow his blinkie taillight for the night. Awww, how sweet! The bike shop I went to was Durham Cycles, by the way. Since the bike shop is on 9th street, I couldn't help but smell the freshly made sandwiches wafting out of Jimmy John's just a few storefronts down...and I had to stop in and get a roast beef sandwich! So after getting my sandwich to go, we rode home in the dark safely, thanks to the nice guy at the bike shop. :) By the time I got to Mangum St at Chapel Hill St., I realized I hadn't heard Eliza make a peep in a few minutes. I looked back and saw that she was zonked out asleep! Here's the 2 pictures I took:
How cute is this picture? She's hugging "Puppy" and sleeping in the bike trailer. Awwww...
We arrived home about 20 minutes later and I woke Eliza up to take her out of the bike trailer. Then we sat on the living room floor and I shared my roast beef sandwich with her, of course telling her that we don't normally eat while sitting on the floor, but tonight was an exception! After that, it was get ready for bed like normal, and Eliza was in bed by 9:45, which is super late for her, but oh well, she can take an extra nap tomorrow to make up for the lost sleep. I enjoyed today's bike ride to the YMCA, Durham Cycles, Jimmy John's and then back home.
